The Future Growth of the Center There is Great Need
According to the National Coalition on Homelessness, almost 300,000 of America’s homeless are single women, mostly struggling with addiction and/or mental illness. Approximately 25,000 of New Jersey’s unmarried teens give birth each year. These statistics support the need for facilities like Great Expectations, but also indicate that the need is growing and our facilities in New Jersey can not keep up with expanding need for services. We know our unique and comprehensive approach to treatment works and that women who receive the type of treatment we offer show measurable improvement, but we need to continue to expand our outreach until every adolescent or woman who needs are help can be assisted.
The Center is looking ahead to provide new services such as transitional housing, after care and other kinds of service that will make it possible for a woman entering our program to follow it through all phases of treatment, and emerge into the world ready to be a viable contributor.
